Musica Latina

Musica Latina is one of the terms used to describe Latin Music, in recent times it has now become fashionable to use the term musica on its own, as an abbreviation when speaking about any ’musical’ format. Whilst anyone searching the internet for musica latina or even Latina Musica is probably trying to find information about Latin Music; simply entering the term musica into a search engine could mean that the person  was actually trying to find out about a piece of sculpture called ‘Musica’.

Musica and Latin Music.

The term musica has become that powerful within internet search engines that it is no longer taken to only imply that the searcher is looking for Latin music related items. On the internet today you can find classical music, opera, choral, chamber, rock, pop and even folk music websites; that can all be revealed by adding “musica” into the text string being searched for. However, the term musica Latina firmly has its roots in the Latin Music scene and searching for musica will give you many links to famous artists such as Julio Iglesias, Christian Castro and Laura Pausini. Musica Latina sites will give you information about recording artists, CD sales and pictures of the Latin Music stars.

Musica the sculpture.

Searching for musica on the internet you could alternatively be trying to find out about the Musica bronze sculpture in Nashville, Tennessee. Exhibited opposite the Bradley Park in the city’s Music Row area, the sculpture by Alan LeQuire is the largest group sculpture in the USA at 38 feet tall. It’s comprised of nine figures in all, five supporting another 4, with a woman holding a tambourine at the top. Representing “dance as the physical expression of music” it is, of course, quite apt that the musica sculpture should be located in one of the world’s musical centers.
